Lost power on Ford Focus

I have a ford focus lx 1800 on a V Reg it has lost a lot of power when accelerating, the car revs as normal when you accelerate but not got its usually power there, also not often but every now and again my speedo will stop working and then the car becomes juddery when changing gear until the speedo starts to work again.

How old is your focus? How many miles? Does it happen at a certain speed (ie: 70mph?) Its possible your fuel injector is clogged. Might not hurt to get some fuel injector cleaner and put it in your gas tank next time you fill up. Some decent brand names are STP and GUMOUT. Look for it at a car store like www.autopartsway.ca.

My mechanic suspects its the fuel injector. He's charging me quite a bit for the part though. Thanks JayMD. This is very timely. The GUMOUT injector is way cheaper than his estimated cost. I might as well purchase from autopartsway.ca instead and just pay the mechanic for his service.
