1. remove the air silencer from the passenger side air filter box
2. install a K&N high flow air filter
3. advance the timing to 14 degrees BTDC
4. run synthetic fluids
5. gear swap. if you have an auto go with 4:10's or if you have a manual go with 3:55's or 3:73's
6. Off road h-pipe with cats.
7. underdrive pullies
8. CAI wither custom or MAC etc.
9. MSD digital box or analog.
These basic bolt-ons will yeild you minimum 13.5 s 1/4 mile time depending on driver that is. Good luck

Most people go with engine mods which is great and works. Personally I would leave the engine stock for now but do bump the timing up to 12-14 degrees initial. Throw some gear into it 3.73-4.30's and set the chassis up. Get a 4 corner weight on the car, install rear upper/lower control arms that are adjustable (so you can change the pinion angle) with solid bushings (note the car will ride rough) to prevent deflection. Run a 50/50 shock in the back and 70/30-90/10 struts in the front. Place the battery to the back to help ballast some weight. Run a decent rear tire (tire height will depend on rear gear ratio) and learn how do abuse the car without hurting it. This is pretty basic stuff that works, and you would be surprised how deep into the 13's a stock 5.0 will take you. Hope this helps you out.

First mo0ds I would recommend are just give your car a tune up before making any mods so you can get the full potential of the mods. Also use aftermarket parts for the tune up.Do an oil change (use Royal Purple), change the air filter (use a K&N). change the wires and plugs, get a new coil, clean the fuel injectors, etc... Sometimes just giving the car a tune will improve performance and gas mileage. That's just my two cents.

Stroker it
ive looked into the bolt ons but best bang for ur $ 347 stroker dont have to do mass air or anything else
thats what im doin in may 347 stroker with 4:10 aluminum drive shaft frame connectors and exhaust and then they car is pretty much done

If someone is going to spend serious coin to stroke a 302 and have it into a stock block, then i would still say buy a turbo kit.
Id be curious of your build costs from a-z to get this stroker up and running the way you want... cause a Junk Yard Turbo kit will outperform a n/a 347.

I have read in magazines, that when the 89 5.0's came out they were running high 12's with 3.73 gears. Now were talking about the light weight models with the radio delete and vinly seats.
Any ways, the way to start is 3.73 gears if its a 5 spd, if you plan to take it to the track run a M/T street with a drag suspension.
Thats just my .02 cents worth

My advice is before you sink any kind of money into the engine you worry more about suspension ie: sub frame connectors, 4 point k member, u/l control arms, 4 point strut tower, shocks, struts, etc etc.
I have seen way to many people in foxbodies that cant put the power to the ground and think a stock supsension with 300+hp is gonna be fine....WRONG.

u wanna get the power to the ground get some lakewood springs drag uppers and lowers and ur good the invest in some slicks and a draft shaft loop and ur ready to go
mustangs have alot of power vs. weight the only flaw is gettin that power to stick some suspension in a box and u will surprise urself with a stock motor
