Ford Motor Company has issued an advisory to dealers concerning body and engine noise on 2003 and 2004 Mustang MACH1 models. Ford will not notify MACH1 owners of this advisory.
According to the memo, MACH1s may exhibit a rattle noise emanating from the hood of the vehicle. This noise can occur at any engine RPM speed and during both acceleration and deceleration.
To solve the issue, Ford will install four revised hood scoop insulators (2L7Z-9P686-AA) which should eliminate the noise. Ford dealers are advised to take special precautions when handling the shaker scoop to prevent scratches or marring.
This advisory can be preformed by your Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer under TSB 03-22-01 at no cost to consumers under the provisions of the new vehicle limited warranty coverage. It is suggested that you print this page out when going to your dealer to schedule a service appointment.
This is considered a "silent recall" where upon Ford may NOT notify owners of this condition. Owners should contact Pat Hoye (313) 248-8336 at Ford World Headquarters or go to the front page of BlueOvalNews for a listing of a Ford executive in your area.
It's your money - demand a better product and Ford will listen.
