Question 2002 Ford Taurus SEL "ticking sound"

i drive a 2002 ford taurus sel .. 123k all service up to date..oil changed every 4000km with quakestate 5w20 .. not to sure what happend to my car..took it from toronto to london and came back to toronto and the engine had started ticking..checked the oil..didnt burn any..can anyone possibly help me with this problem..i herd it was the lifter stickin and i was told to put a litre of ATF in my oil..for about 1000km..im not sure tho..upping some feed back

its mostly likly the Hydraulic lifters, they just start ticking, almost sound like a diesel right? nothing bad, 5 cylinder Audis are known for it, and im guessing thats the problem, doesn't cause any damage, but can get annoying a bit, I don't think its worth replacing especially if its going to cost alot and especially if they are going to crap out every 100,000km.
