Dodge Challenger, should I buy or not?
Came across this car from a friend. It is a 1970 Dodge Challenger, nothing special at all, most people think Challenger = Fast, well not in this case. It has the base model 145 hp 225 slant six, Column, no power options. He said he drove the car, it does 0-60 in about 12 seconds, which sucks ***, and takes for ever to get up to 80 MPH, so obviously this car is not a race car, it has an open diff, highway gearing etc. Its a 2 door as all Challengers, but the thing I cannot shake is it has a damn 225. Well this motor, is excellent on gas, the owner said that if it is taken care of, it can easly get 25 miles per gallon.
Car is $12,000 OBO, fresh paint, fair interior, rebuilt motor/trans/rear. I have no cash now, mainly because I owe dad for fronting half the cash for my 69, but I am considering making a trade, I also have a Jeep, and the guy wants to look at my Jeep. What do you think about this? Trade or no trade?

I have been around cars my whole life. Not that I am an expert or anything, but I do have decent knowledge. I would be weary of new paint, who knows what he is trying to hide? How good are the floors and frame rails????
I think the price steep cause its not a V8 car.
Just my 2 cents

Regardless of the engine, 1970 Challengers are becoming valuable. If it's clean and rust free it's worth a serious look at
If you are not interested in buying it please pm me with the details, i'd like to look at the car

the price is a little steep. Also remember Mopar parts go for arms and legs these days...Out of the three major manufacurers Ford,Dodge and GM. Mopars are the most expensive to restore. But they also have higher price tags on them as well.
