discuss... who here will be getting vista on launch day which is jan 30.. ? or will be getting it later on.. im going to try getting one on the day.. im buying the home premium version.. i think all the higher rated versions are a waste ex vista: ultimate, buisness.. and the basic home is too basic.. i say the home premium is the best one..

I was running the MSDN hacked version off of the torrents for a few months w/o a problem on my machine. As long as all of your hardware is supported driver wise you'll be ok.
BUT... you do need 2GB or ram minimum IMO... It runs a lot slower then XP /w only 1GB.

For sure... heck XP on your computer would be slow for me... but then you get used to a certain speed and it's hard to go back.
I even dislike slight wait times, which is why I upgraded to 2GB of ram on my laptop (got a good deal), and the next upgrade for it is a 7200rpm HDD.
I'm not sure how Vista will run on my laptop.. but it should be ok after the faster HDD. but my laptop is faster then u'r desktop and I can just barely handle that.
Spoiled aren't we now a days lol... nothing wrong at all w/ XP anyways.. it's IMO a great OS.

i heard it has built in anti-piracy where it seeks out pirated software and deletes on detection... ths was on a business new program this morning about its release...
imo an operating system shouldn't demand much resource.. it should be a background program not the main attraction...

i've been running vista on my 2nd computer for about a month now and its really great, you can tweak it and run hacks on it with no problem, the only thing is that its slow when running system processes like defragmenting and disk clean-up

there are hacks and tweaks to add to vista to stop it from deleting pirated software cause its a default setting set by microsoft and it can be changed only with a hack, or if microsoft comes out with something for it. but there are tons of programs to use with vista and you get alot of programs with it especially the spyware detection programs are great so that you dont have to download your own.
