USB to Serial

So I got a USB to serial DB9 converter.. It says I installed the driver but under device manager it says unknown device.. I have attempted to update driver when I right click on properties also.. but it won't upload the driver that way..

WTF.. help

P.S. I already ensure it's on and also on BIOS.. the port does work cause I"ve used that port for wireless dial up and mouse before.

Check your COM settings as you have to let the computer know that it is looking on the USB Bus for COM1 not a Serial Bus. That setting is usually in the software that came with the USB/DB9
