Ttc Strike: Are You Affected?
So far they have announced they are going on strike as of monday and being someone who drives to work i am wondering how you will be affected?
Im sure my drive will be even more congested and that steeles and other main roads will be packed as of monday. Not to mention that half my staff at work take the subway in and dont have cars....

The strike wont affect me too much cause I drive to work, and its only 10 km away. So im not too worried about all the extra drivers that will be on the roads next week.
However, my girl is pretty much screwed cause of it. she lives downtown and goes to york. she has a couple exams coming up

TTC is no longer the better way. It was when I attended York University 3 years ago either. I learned this because I'm a 20 minute drive from York, yet on the bus it some how 1hr 15 minutes. But I did the math one week and the cost of parking, plus gas outweighed the fare....the amount of time it took pissed me off, but I couldn't do nothing. Sometime between then and now that's all changed. Sure gas is more, but the TTC fare has gone up what 40 cents? The service isn't as good anymore either.
Last night my girl and I went out to a club, with the new fare increase it would've cost us $10.00 round trip, parking downtown in a parkade off Richmond was $5. If we factor in gas maybe it cost $2.50. Either way less money came out of my pocket.
The weekend before we went to the Ricoh to watch some old timers game. Same deal $10 to go down. Parking was also $10, but it took us 15 minutes to drive rather than taking one bus, a subway and a street car for 1 hour.
So even if the money is even, the time is still way way off. It just isn't worth it to take the TTC anymore, at least not for what I'm doing. Maybe if I'm going alone to the Eaton Centre but not for two people to head downtown.

I don't see how the TTC could ever be the better way. When I went to Centennial Collage, I used the TTC everyday. I would have to get the GO bus in Aurora, down to Finch and then the subway to Eglington then across to Warden. That took on average about an hour and a half. To drive it in rush hour traffic was about 45min. Now the bus ride was great as I could catch up on sleep, but for the cost,it was cheaper to drive and get a parking pass then what it was costing in bus fair.

for me the TTC is o....k i guess.
i don't have to switch nothing to get to college, and it takes 35-40 minutes to get there. when i was driving it took me around 30-35 minutes. so not much of a difference there. the only problem with driving was the crazy parking $$$ at school. so TTC works out better for me
