Thinking About Getting Another Gun
I love my Glock to death but I want to get a rifle as well. I was looking at the AR15's(semi auto version of the M16 basicly) but now I'm really thinking an AK47 would be the way to go. Here's a picture from the local gun shop's website of the exact model I'm looking at except I would get it with a darker wood. It isn't the top of the model version as those are really over priced but it'd fit my needs just fine.

I'd go the AR15, they have different versions and have tons of mods that can go on them. They are easy to maintain and light and accurate. the AK is heavy, reliable, hard recoil, not as accuarate. But its all down to you, I personally want to buy an AR15.

I loved rifles till it became part of my everyday life, But still i love my M-4(AR-15), I love Ak-47, I see them everyday when we roll by Iraqi Police.
Ak-47 are reliable can be fired even with sand, mud and some other s**t, but is not very accurate
AR-15 are lightweight, can be known for having some problems with feeding rounds into the chamber, Accurate, and as 98camaroZ28 stated can be modded to your desire.

Go with the AR...then cruise the black market and get a 203 launcher for it...
There are SO MANY things out there that you get for the AR series rifle. The biggest thing mistake that I see people make is buying junk ammo for them to save a couple bucks. 'Wolf' ammo is crap- 20 rounds of that and you will be cleaning for 30 minutes.
With AR you should be able to hit targets 300 yards out with open sights- I don't believe the AK's are that accurate.

I have shot both guns you speak of, the AR15 is a great gun. But I would personally prefer an M4. As per an AK47, its the most reliable gun i've ever owned, yet, its VERY heavy, very large recoil (7.62's are mostly only needed when body armor is a factor), and as everyone else has said, its accuracy is less than I like.
An AR15 would AMAZE you on recoil, its a joke. I can typically hit a watermelon at 500 yrds with open sights 8/10 times, and it feels like a .22.
What purpose do you really have with an automatic rifle (im assuming you're getting the single only sportsman version)?
I was having the same thoughts when I went to get a pistol, but I ended up getting a scattergun for my appartment. Check out the Mossberg 500, there are tons of versions, and for very cheap. Its more than you would ever need, besides, with 00 buck, you wont miss, even at a decent distance.
Either way, choosing between an AK and AR15 (or M4) i'd go with the M4. 5.56 is PLENTY of power with less recoil, lots of accuracy, and a TON of modifications (sights, scopes, tac-lights, lasers, supressors, etc.)

I have a starlight scope on my m4, its not a big deal. You just cannot use it for hunting.

AR15 hands down yes the AK is more powerful plus bigger rounds (7.62mm compared to the AR's 5.56mm) but its far less acurate. I would get an M4 or even a m16a2 over the the AK anyday. The modifications and add-ons you could do to it is endless. You wont be upset with your purchase. Plus its easy to clean and not hard at all to toubleshoot it. I'm sure the few of us that are on here that are in the military or even those who own one themselves will back that up.

I've already gone through all this before and have decided on the AK. I'll end up getting an AR15 latter but right now I really want the AK.
I think after this my next two purchases will be a 1911 and an AR15. After that I'll be pretty well set with everything I want gun wise.
