Racing Story From Dubai/Abu Dhabi
As some of you remember at the meets this summer, i told you guys about my buddy who's working in UAE.
I met this dude through my mother, he's 26, his name's joey..he works for an architectural firm, about a year or so ago, he was given the choice of going to work in Abu Dhabi/Dubai...he travels back and forth between them, he's some sort of manager or in charge of projects or something over there.
Regardless..he had some experiences with people there and ..basically he saw some crazy supercar races..meets that make ours look like circus exhibitions and ..
But here's the story..
K..he has a coworker named Masood, he's got an MK4 supra which was just BPU with some increased boost, ehxuast, minor stuff. and a bunch of various other goodies..car is far from a dyno queen..pretty good top end, and not a slouch from a dig.
Now, i met this guy before he left for UAE, he's always liked cars, maybe more than i do, but he always tries to attend racing meets, or car meets in general with his buddy Masood, they cruise up and down the streets also asking people to race and stuff.
Well..what i found interesting the most is that he told me how they do it...
He raced R33 GT-R, and got smoked by it, i mean buslenghted as Joey described it, so what he did was, he told the driver of the GT-R at the next set of lights "Meet me at that corner right there a month from now, we'll have a rematch ok?", the GT-R driver said "ok, that's cool"
So, sure enough...a month later, he comes to the corner of this one street, a gas station, the R33 driver is there chilling on the hood of his car, they come there, shake hands..they shoot the a little bit..masood goes "are you ready for me this time?", the guy with the R33 says "you better be faster than last time", so they line it up..now keep in mind, my friend joey is still in the dark.
They line it up, Supra is running slicks now, and sounds a "tad" different.
Off the line, a bit of wheel spin, GT-R bites hard..and moves...supra midrange blows by the GT-R, top end is no contest...gt-r is left in the dust..my friend joey is shitting his pants cause he didnt expect much of this as the ride to the gas station was pretty normal by masood's standards..
They go into a parking lot of some warehouse on the outskirts, and talk a bit...Masood pops his hood and shows him what he's got..from what my friend Joey saw.."single turbo upgrade, larger FMIC, piping looks like it doubled, a bunch of new lines and what looked like new wiring", GTR guy was blown away..he kept saying how fast it was top end and stuff like that..
Sorry for the long read, i just thought it was worth the post..

Oh man wish I could be there, someday I plan on going to Dubai in Qatar. Who knows, maybe i'll see one of those rare lambo SUV's There must be some insane off-road desert racing in those parts (one of my friends from Saudi Arabia got to watch some Range Rovers go at it when he was driving around).

Dubai is by far a NO HOLDS BAR deal. I have a few friends here in Japan that speak of some serious stories from there.
