Plumbing Question

Everytime I flush a toilet or turn off a pipe in my house, my pipes start to raddle really louding and vibrate. It only use to do it with a few taps but now everything is making it do it. Does anybody know what causes this and how it can be fixed?

Thanks

Dion

The situation you are describing is called "Water hammer" and basically is the water pushing against itself when you shut a tap off. This will cause pipes to move. Chance's are your water pipes are not fully secure and are rattling.

Bingo. When the plumber put the pipes in, he should have attached them to the framing. That's what they make that nice pipe strapping, that most of us have used for exhaust hanger repair. That's what it's actually for.

Young gun can only hope to improve
mine used to do that when i'd flush, the solution was to tighten the tap behind the toilet that controls waterflow thru that pipe
