how much is my car worth?

i know by bluebook my car isnt worth much but im just wondering how much i can get out of it from someone interested in a street/strip car.

the reason im selling it is that i took out a loan to buy mods then once i got my mods done my tranny went out (borrowed more money for tranny) and i got it back from the tranny shop friday and was backing it off the trailor (0 miles on tranny!) and the motor blew.. so now my family is loaning me more money to fix that. so now im gonna have a car with all new topend/bottom end/ and transmission. i just wanna sell it so i can get out of debt then im gonna buy a decent silverado or something like that and buy a LT1 block to build and once i finish that ill buy a shell car to put it in.

I am also gonna go ahead and do the front end conversion so that i can get a little more out of it when i sell it since im like $100 away from finishing it.

Honestly I would say with the perfect buyer you might be able to squeeze out 6500, MAYBE 7. Its hard to say, I would check your local swap sheets and see what they are going for around you.

The book value is lower that what you can sell one for these days so you can't go strictly by that.

Also- what happened to the motor? Those are pretty low miles for a motor to just pop unless there was something neglected somehow..

well ever since the cam swap the oil pressure has been real iffy. and i was backing it off the trailor and a rod berring started sqeaking so i immediately pushed it into the shop and pulled the intake manifold and found metal shavings so i pulled the motor. the motor isnt trashed im trying to save it from any more damage, im gonna pull the crank tomorrow and get it turned if its salvageable and see if there is any other damage... i was really only looking for about 6k so thats good to hear.

ok well i found out some more about the motor this afternoon and this is just a rant and probably wont make much sense. i ended up spinning a bearing so im gonna do a complete tear down and fix everything right. well ne ways i pulled the timing cover and noticed something a little odd. see when i started this project i paid 175 for a Lunati timing set but when i pulled the timing cover off i found stock timing gears.. so pretty much i paid this ****** idiot a bunch of money to install parts that he didnt even install, and what makes it worse is he still have my ****** parts. well i got to looking around and noticed that my valve springs looked kinda odd. see the springs looked fine just like any other spring but thats the problem i bought Beehive valve springs so i guess this piece of **** didnt use what little brain he has and think that there is some visual difference when he decided he was gonna rob me of my parts.

anyways now that i got that outta me ive gotta get all new main bearings, get the crank turned, and 2 rod caps fixed. but i was very pleased at the condition of the cylinder walls for a 120k mile vehicle. im just gonna get my **** back from this guy, go over everything and fix everything the RIGHT way. and then the for sale signs go in it. i assure anyone that is interested in the car that it will have ALL of the parts i advertise plus ill probably go ahead and replace little things like pushrods and such just for piece of mind.

If you are going that far you might as well throw in some new rings. I did my block a while back, just get a hone from autozone, give a quick turn to freshen up the cyc, not too much though or else you can actually overbore it.

I paid around $60 for Moly rings which isn't too bad..of course you can pay more and get higher quality, but I was just looking to get by for a little while at the time until the new motor went in. (Stock rings don't mix well with boost..)
