HDTV Monitor.

I know with an HDTV Monitor you need that little box to be able to view HDTV singles from a digital cable source or an antenna. Do you still need the little box to be able to view an HDTV picture if you use the component inputs say from say a DVD player or an xbox?

I'm refering to an HDTV TV. I'm asking do I need the tuner box if the only thing I want to see in HD is the video/images from a DVD player and an Xbox.

I wouldnt assume so, I thought those tuner boxes were for tv only, but I could be wrong.

tuner box is for cable/dtv/satelite only. make sure hdtv is enabled on whatever device you're using (i.e. XBox)

dvd is not hd so no issue there, the new blueray or hddvd (what ever one the decide to use, blueray is the better one though) will output hd to the dvi or hdmi input, component will carry technically hd signals, but not well, on some sets it's too weak to get a decent picture.

s video sucks, picture quality is horrible (it's a step above a coax cable, and even then can be worse since it tends to over boost red and creat sparkles)

Never used it, I just know that they made the S-video cable for the PS2, and I heard it was better than normal quality.

that's what sony wants you to think, I ahve shown people the same dvd off the same player, hooked to teh same tv, by s video and component (the yellow cable) and they always prefered the yellow cable picture
