Ford exec says Louisville plants don't have a guaranteed future

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Two Ford manufacturing plants in Kentucky have no guarantees they will survive cuts planned by the automaker, an executive said Thursday.
"There are no guarantees for any plants nowadays, frankly, given the need we have to reduce our capacity and make it more in line with demand," said Joe Hinrichs, vice president of North America manufacturing for Ford Motor Co.
The two Louisville plants employ nearly 9,000 workers, with the Louisville Assembly Plant producing two of Ford's flagship vehicles — the Explorer and Explorer Sport Trac — and the Kentucky Truck Plant producing the F-Series Super Duty pickup.
