If they really wanted to make this new law a cash grab, they would make a 50km/h below the speed limit fine. I dont think I have ever been able to drive the speed limit with all the idiots driving 50 below.

I swear every since that new law kicked in people are afriad togo above 110km/h on any 400 series highway. I usually cruise around 120-129km/h and always get stuck behind slow idoits in the fast lane.

So police have precticted to catch 4800 people in one year doing 50km/h over the limit...since the tickets range from 2K-10K lets say the avg charge is 5K.

thats 24million a year!!! where is this money going to???

OH and as for the comment about cops not wanting todo paperwork for tickets over 50 it depends on the region you get pulled over in.

ALOT of cops in areas like YORK REGION they have nothing better todo and will probably slap you with a nice fine and not lower it.

BUT if you get pulled over in higher crime rate areas like Scarborough where cops don't have time todo this paperwork youl probably get let off...

I know a few cops and this is what they told me. some funny stories behind this too.
