When shifting gears in a manual transmission, do you have to push the clutch all the way down to change gears and will it mess up something by u not doing so?"

it just depends where the clutch catches. some you don't have to push in far at all and some you have to push to the floor. just as long as it's not grinding you are fine. a good way to test it is put your car in gear and have the clutch pushed in, then slowly release the clutch. when the car starts to shut down wherever the clutch is thats the catch point. if that makes any sense.

You can feel a point at which the pedal is a bit easier to push down, thats the point where your clutch disengages. That is all that is necessary,on most cars this is about about halfway down. You do not have to push it all the way to the floor. If you can't hear the gears grinding when you shift, you are ok.

hey, like everyone is saying, as long as you don't grind the gear when you're shifting it. The gear shifting should be smooth. Anyway, FYI, the clutch pedal can be adjusted to your comfortable level. You local mechanic can do this for you. Have fun...
