2 "STREETRACING" deaths to remove from the statistics...

so the drivers pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, however now the facts are out!
they driver that crashed into the manchesters was only driving 20-32km/h over the limit (100-115 in an 80... 100 would be the average speed on that section of roadway).
the father that made the unsafe left turn was over the legal alcohol limit at the time, and as a result misjudged the speed of the cars that were approaching. the 2nd civic was driving behind the first which would indicate that they were simply speeding, and not racing as all of the stupid cops and media tried to imply.
the fault of this crash lies with the victims for driving drunk. shame on mr.manchester for driving his wife and young daughter home after tying one on... and then leaving his daughter without any parents in a crash that HE caused.

haha yea I saw this yesterday and started laughing. I love how this didn't get an equal amount of press like when it first happened and was called "street racing". I had to wait 15 mins just to see it on CTV last night. I feel bad for the daughter though...

It'll never get the image of the street race out of people's minds. Those 2 will always be dead from street racing, no matter what the inquiry found. Anyone who actually paid attention, will know, the rest will only remember the little girl, who, sadly, is still without parents, and nothing is going to change that.

I thought that if a driver was over the legal limit of alcohol, that the blame would be 100% theirs?
If the blame's on the drunk driver, how do these two guys get ****ed with a bunch of other when they were only speeding?

I dont know all the facts well about the cabbie who died near Mount Pleasant, but I believe he to turned infront of those 2 Mercedes (or whatever they were). He also misjudged their speed and he died to.
Problem is - most ppl just spend a 1/4 second looking in their mirrors and around them. They fig if theres no one in their immediate local - its safe to go. Now if that cabbie (and possibly Mr. Manchester) spent 2 - 2.5 seconds longer to judge the approaching cars speed, he/they may all be alive today.
Even when my light is green upon my approach to an intersection, I look left and right to make sure all cars are stopped or near stopped, otherwise I slow down or stop. I've avoided being T-Boned a couple times by doing that because someone didnt slow down for their red light for whatever reason.
Just be carefull out there, concentrate and make clear informed (know whats around you within 150 meters if poss) decisions/manouvers.

If the cabbies light was green for at least a second, it's the "racers" fault for running a red.

yes, it would be the "racer's" fault if their light was red, his point is that there wouldn't have been any deaths if the person that had the green or right of way had taken the time to make sure nobody was going to run the red.
it pays to be cautious...

Do you know if the speeders had a stop sign or not?
Ya - Im not saying you should look L+R when commming up on your own green - just that I do most of the time just in case. True you shouldnt have to do that, but you shouldnt have to do a left shouldercheck when entering a left turn lane where it starts - but you should cuz ppl like to drive down the centre lane before it becomes a left turn lane.

I heard though the grapevine that they are going to countersue. For Damages and libel, they have been dragged through the mud and front page news just do a Google search. They are victimized by cops in their own neighborhood and under some sort of temp ban before being proven GUILTY! I still remeber seeing that on the front page of the SUN wonder if they will run the retraction on the front page as well..
It was embarrassing to watch the familiy admit they didn't want it to leak the guy was drunk almost double the limit for the sake of the daughter. How dare that cop criticize the judge for not ruling this as street racing, facts are facts as much as you don't want to beleive this trgedy was the drunks fault.
Shame!

The retraction will be on the same page as all the others. Oh wait, that's small print right under the sun girl, where no one will ever see it. Once again, guilty until proven innocent. I think I'll start a mens rights group, since we're obviously getting ****ed left right and center no matter what we do.
