Question Time for the high mileage oil?

My LT1 is currently around 77K and when I have my next oil change the car will just be hitting 80K. I run nothing but Castrol 10w-30 in my car but I was wondering if it was worth changing to those oils that say they are made for engines with over 75K miles. I mean what do these other oils do that is different from regular oil?

anything is better than castrol, castrol does not have one refinery and buys from everyone else. I run synthetic (royal purple, or mobile one) and have almost 200,000 the ones like valvoline high millage work well also

I was thinking of going with a high mileage one, too, sometime soon. Seeing as we can only guess the mileage, but it should be coming into the range of it soon.

I can get Mobile 1 for a good price now so I have been considering using it. Just kind of worried about leaks and how do you flush your engine? O'Reilly's sells some motor flush stuff would I use that?

yep, I would do the next one after that a little sooner since the synthetic will clean a little more

yeah the only reason you may get leaks is because synthetic is thinner than non-synthetic and if theres a small leak now it may get worse with synthetic.

my dad also uses mobil one with his vette, but his engine has about 30,xxx so not too high mileage yet. mine has about 113,xxx and i use regular old oil. i tried high mileage when i first got it at 99,xxx and then went back to regular on the next change and felt no difference...so now i just use the regular cheap stuff, havoline
