Syn oil change
I havent run synthetic in my car before, and was thinking about switching. The car has 76000ish miles on it, and I was going to use Royal purple with a K&n filter. But what weight oil should I buy? Just 10w30 like I always have in the dino oil?

I'd stick with 10w30.
Now, keep this in mind. Switching from normal to synthetic is not a miracle as some people think it is. It tends to clean out seals and such and cause leaks where they were not leaking previously. Also, it may say "15,000 mile oil change" on the bottle, but dont even. I wouldnt go past 8,000 on synthetic.
I personally like my royal purple, so I would suggest it. It is a little high though. As per the K&N oil filter... I like the wrench attachment, but other than that, I think an oil filter is an oil filter pretty much.

Thx for the quick reply phate, I guess Im going to have to do some searching for RP, i called our local advance auto, and they said they had some. Just got back and the person I spoke with in the store said they had never carried it, and it wasnt in the computer or in the store(i looked), and checked 2 other places while I was out, there happens to be about a billion auto parts stores in Flint(vehicle city), makes sense I guess, and no one caried it or could order it. If I cant find any, is mobil 1 ok? I know its not 100% syn but it has to be better than valvoline dino oil right?

x3. I've been using 5w30 since I've had the car. Now with 163k on the odometer, I still only get a few drops on the garage floor on occasion. I did replace the intake gasket at about 110k, so that has helped I'm sure.
edit: I've been using synthetic oil, I didn't specify.
