Super Charger VS Turbo Charger
#2
It actually depends on the car. If i had a v6 i would throw a supercharger in it. If i had a v8 i would throw either in it. I personally dont have a favorite but i do like the sound of a big turbo winding up! :P

if money was not an issue, turbo by far. however superchargers are always an easier intall and i think they dont create as much boost as a turbo, so they'd be safer and require less tuning...correct?

There have been several debates as to what is better- supercharger or turbo. Both have their benefits and both have down sides.
A turbo does have lag, but so does a charger somewhat. Turbos are capable of creating more boost, but a charger can be made to make just as much boost, its just not as common to see as a turbo making.
One downside to a turbo is that you need to have cool-down time when you are done drving to make sure you don't hurt the turbo unit. That would be an annoyance to me having to make sure I let the car idle for a minute before I turned it off. A supercharger doesn't need this cooldown time as they do not use hot exhaust gases.
I like both, I obviously like the 'whine' of a charger but a turbo does say power when you hear the BOV open and the whistle they make as well.
As far as tuning goes, both need a fair amount of tuning to make the optimum power. I can't say which is easier to tune, but both of them do need aftermarket tuning to be safe and to make power.

I didn't vote because I'd be happy with either and it's really up to what you're building and what your personal prefrences(sp) are.

yea, this kid i know has a TSI talon with an upgraded turbo and some other drivetrain mods, and as far as tuning for his turbo goes he has a turbo timer and boost controller and hes never had problems with it and its pretty ******* fast too!

umm
turbo lag is way over rated.
tiago just put a T-70 on a stock 3.8 and it is fooly spooled to 7PSI at 3000 RPM. i don't know of any SC that can make 7 PSI at only 3k rpm
that car put down 330 RWHP for a 3.8L !!!
the t3/t4 basic kit he sells spools at like 2300-2500 rpm
the one t66 kit that FF put out there spools at 2800- 3000 rpm (biult 3.8 motor)
a turbo will make 1-2 psi while it spooling soon as the shaft hits that sweet rpm the boost is THERE. the guy with the t66 has his on 15psi, at 2600-2700 he may only have 1-2 pis at 2800-2900 it spike to 15psi and holds there he lets off the gas
while a turbo is more complicated with piping i think they have less matainance then a SC, and you don't have to worry about the belt sliping.... and other things
its really what you perfer but i think turbos make more power for the power the use to make it.
IMHO turbo is the way to go for a V6, the turbo cars are putting down way better numbers then the SC 3.8s are
