Starter? Battery?

My car hasn't been starting like normal. It studders and finally will start. I had taken my car in for a leak and new waterpump and they replaced the starter as well..... but my car is still doing the same thing. I had them check the battery and alternator and all is fine.

It doesn't happen all the time...I noticed it only doesn't want to start good when the car has been sitting for a good amount of time.

any suggestions??

Turn the key to on, let it sit for 3 or so seconds while the fuel pump gets some gas up to the motor, then try to start it, should fire right up.

yea could be bad fuel pump or you need a new fuel filter go and get some fuel injector cleaner, its like 5$ for a bottle and add it to a full tank of gas.

I tried that this morning and it started fine after I wanted a few seconds. The real test will be once I get off work...usually that's when it has trouble.

so....do I always have to wait seconds before starting now?

how much for new fuel filter/pump?

I always wait a second or 2 before I start my car, I just bump the key to start for half a second and it starts. I suppose it could be your filter, there pretty cheap. Its most likely not the pump, they are far from cheap, and a pita to install, drop exhaust, fuel tank etc. I just had a new pump installed my self, came pretty close to 650 installed. Id wait for some of the ls1 guys to chime in. Most likely nothing wrong tho, my car has always be that way.

i was going to say fuel pump to. . . but i was beat to it

a new fuel pump with the same lph should be around 40-60 i would think ( thats how much they are at wholesale if you go right to the parts store to buy it ) if you go to a garage and have them buy it they probably will charge you more

Yea, my bets are on the filter if it hasn't been replaced recently.

I have a new fuel pump, and sometimes it won't fire right up. But when it does, when I either put it in Drive or Reverse it shuts off. Why? Whats wrong?

Maybe try replacing the filter, could have been a bad tank of gas with a bunch of crap in it or something.
