SPEC 3+ for LT1 T56
Who has it and how do you like it? How much power are you making? I'm leaning toward it for my 6spd application.
~400hp and maybe a 100 shot down the road with slicks

to be honest, i stayed away from all the Star Spec clutches because it seemed all of the reviews were hit or miss. people either said it was awesome or people said it was the biggest peice of crap ever. so i went with the RAM powergrip clutch set. its supposed to be good for like 500 horse. i have been happy with it since i put it in, ive never felt it slip with my nittos or my snow tires.hehe. it was 500 bucks for everything needed, minus cutting of flywheel. if your looking for more power capacity, look at the Ram powergrip HD. its good for a bit more power, then there is some crazier stuff that prolly wont apply to you. if you dont care about money and want absolutely the best thing you can get, go with a Mcleod twin disc setup.

Well the deal with mine is I also need a retrofit flywheel to mate it to the older small block. The whole setup for mine to make it work is $883 for the disk, pp, tob, flywheel.
I know I have a heard a lot of crap about the Spec 3, but the 3+ and 2+ are much better options according to the tech guy I talked to. Lots of people buy the 3 because it is cheaper.
I did talk to a tech guy at Ram and was not impressed, so I'm kind of leaning away...

I have a stage 4 pp and 3+ disc goin in my car this spring- I will be sure to let you know how they hold up. I hope the disc holds up, the stage 4 and 5 discs hold a lot more but are very difficult to drive on the street, so hopefully it will hold. If it doesn't looks like I'll be saving up for a twin disc..

I have had a spec3 in two cars and was pretty impressed. The peddle is a little heavier than some clutces, but is livable. They grab hard and seem to take some pretty heavy abuse.
I did have one issue though. The one time that I atempted to spray the cobra at the track, I launched at 4500 on the bottle and when I went to shift into second, it would not go into gear (it wouln not go into any gear without shutting the car off). It would not disengauge. I drove the car home from the track without using the clutch, lol.
The Disk had welded itself to the flywheel. I was able to pry it off and clean up the surface area. I dont think that it was the fault of the clutch:
I was on slicks and have no line lock. So doing a burnout with a manual and rear disk brakes heats the $hit out of a clutch. Hot clutch+ 4500 launch + 580ft lbs +3800lb raceweight = Unintentional welding:banghead:
I have heard of a lot of people with specs in F bodies having problems though.
Mcleod makes an exelent clutch (single or $$twin$$ disk)

i have about a 5,000 mile spec stage 3+ and i can say that i am very happy about my purchase. ive never felt it slip a bit, as far as streetability goes it was a little stiff and pretty rough at first but it eventually smoothed out. still takes a little getting used to ive deffinatly ripped the tires off almost accidently a time or two. hahaha
