performance upgrades suggestion for camaro
looking for some inexpensive horsepower gainers, look to spend around 1-2k on them, so supercharger is out of the choice. wondering if an intercooler by itself would gain any hp, or does it have to be coped with a supercharger/turbo to do anything. i've already installed a CAI, i dont want to install aftermarket exhaust systems to avoid trouble with cops dont want to put nos cz of legal issues, basically im looking for things that will fit on a 3800 series II engine built for a camaro. if you know any mods can you make some suggestions? thanks for looking!

I would for sure say do a full exhaust from the headers down to catback.
As long as you've got cats on your car you won't have a problem with the cops.
Other than that go with some Pullies and aftermarket upper/lower intake.

With a full exhaust, pullies, and upper/lower intake your probably looking at 25rwhp.
If you want more than 50hp you will have to do the above along with aluminum heads and bigger cam.
If you've got around 2K to play with go a buy a set of heads. Heads alone should give you just over 40hp.

listen not to be rude but at least drop in an lt1...dont waste time jerking around elsewhere...if u wanna keep da 6er...boost it or leave it alone only way you'll make any power...ecu tuning...good turbo kit...ported and polished heads and matching intake 3" exhaust and your laughing all doable for 3500 or so

He's giving you good advice. You are not going to make 50 hp with bolt on's with a v6. Ive seen some turbo 3800's run in the 12's, but thats going to cost you at lot more than you budgeted. I know that telling you to sell your car isnt the answer that you are looking to hear, but you will end up spending a lot more money in the long run trying to make a v6 move compared to selling it, and ponying up for a LT1/LS1. LT1's are CHEAP these days and can be made to run decent times with little $$$. My suggestion is to get wet fogger kit, set it up for a 75 shot for now, and then transfer it to whatever car you decide to move on to in the future. At least it will be a difference you can feel and will cost you about $1000.

Go to the cars for sale section and start with one of the cars I have listed there one is guaranteed 10.8,s with time slips and video . thats before you hit the 2 stage nitrous system . The other has a Howard Race Engines vortec headed 355 and should go mid 13,s ..77.

I am with the others on this one.
I had to learn the hard way. I had a MPFI 2.8L V6 with a shitload of stuff done to it and thousands wasted trying to make it fast.
V6's are nice quick A-B drivers but Not for racing on a budget.
Find an LT-1 or another Eight .
