Overheating in like 12 degree weather
So last night i was on my way home from school at about 10:30. I went onto the interstate and was going 75 then my service engine soon light came on and i thought nothing of it because i figured it was the same light about the EGR #3. Anyways so i get home get out of my car and something doesn't smell right. Smells like antifreeze or something was burning. I saw that there looked to be a little white smoke coming from the engine bay, keep in mind it is like 12 degrees or colder here. So i left it to sit for the night. Well about 20 minutes ago my mom was leaving and saw a huge puddle of "something" under my car.....antifreeze. I just thought i would clue you all in on what is happening. Don't really know what i am going to do now. put more antifreeze in it for today then i don't know what. honestly the car needs sold all it is doing is sucking the money out of my pocket. Well i have rambled enough now so i will keep you all posted and wish me luck!

I doubt that SES light had anything to do with the antifreeze, if it overheats a "CHECK GAUGES" light will come on and ding at you. Your probally leaking from the water pump is my guess, but it could be anything from that to a hose to the radiator.

agreed... water pump was my problem, could be a bad hose, or one of those little elbows behind the water pump. If your gauge wasnt reading that it was overheating, id also get that checked out.

it could be lost of things.. with it being that cold you could even have a cracked block or the freeze plug could of popper out of the block (do our cars even have freeze plugs lol??) the little elbow under the intake manifold is only made of pvc and could very well be the problem too

On my ford ranger it leaked all of the anti freeze but that was because the hoses shrunk and came off, solution put both hoses back on and it was good to go! just just check your hoses and find the source of the leak. I was glad I didnt have to blow 200$ for a radiator.

well thank you all for your suggestions. but i am not the mastermind at the chevy 3.4 or engine work in general at least on this new stuff. but tomorrow it goes off to the corvette specialist and i get to drive my mom's SS so i am pretty pumped about that but the bad news is as soon as it is fixed my dad said it is getting sold. and no i probably won't get another maro either...

hey sorry my dad is just an *** when it comes to this car and yeah everytime something is wrong it goes on my shoulders cause i told him we should get it and then he goes and says it's being sold so i have no control over it. i have no clue what i am going to get though that's what truly scuks
