Over heating

Ok so today i noticed my Camaro (95 Z28) was getting hotter then normal. Usually the tact wont go past the half way mark on the guage, but today it was getting close to the red zone. How hot does your normal get? Do you think this is a sign for bad things to come? Since it is completely stock do you think i should upgrade anything? Thanks for the help guys.

Work from easy to hard. Look for bad hoses and leaks. Even a small leak can cause overheating. Do you have enough coolant? If so, is it really old, nasty and clogging everything up? The next thing is to replace the thermostat. Cheap and easy to replace. If it's old and sticking (or clogged if will not open all the way and cause overheating. Feel the return hose for heat. After the car heats up it should be hot. If not then the thermostat is not opening. Also check the fuses/ relays for the fan: easy to overlook.

yea like posted look at either getting a new thermostat and when was the last time you bled the system? you could have air in it. but a slightly clogged hose could start to make you overheat also. what type of coolant are you using?
