Exclamation Need Front end Conversion Help

I have a 94 Z-28 that I am fixing to start building. I want to convert the front end to the 98-02 style. I know I need hood, fenders, headlights, and bumper cover (nose). What other brackets will I need to do this? Will I have to change the wiring harness for the lights? Any advice will be appreciated. Where is a good place to find this stuff besides a Junk Yard? All of the local Junk Yards around here don't have anything I can use.

Thanks,

SBP

Ok I've been threw the conversion so I think I might be of help.

First of all, the best resource I found for this is off CamaroZ28.com. Here's the link.

That'll tell you the process and what you'd need pretty much. Any detailed questions I can lend my advice on just ask. Oh and the wireing harness - no need to change, it'll swap straight across.

Hey Meen Z-28. What are the chances of you knowing what all brackets I need to change from the old style to the new ones? Also could you drop me a parts list of all the stuff I need? Especailly all the fender brackets and brackets for the head lights. I thought I had found a good donor that was wrecked in the rear. but the has someone else picking up the whole car in the morning. Can't locate one at any of the local Yards. Thanks for the Help

Ok, this is from memory as best I can. I'll start with the big (obvious) things first.

Hood
Left and Right fender
Nose
Grill insert
Left and Right Headlight assembly
1 pair 9005 bulbs (low beam)
1 pair 9006 bulbs (high beam)
Left and Right Fog lamps
Impact bar with foam
Left and Right Headlight brackets
Header panel (piece that the nose bolts to and bolts tot he upper cross-member)
Left and right inner wheel spash gaurd
Left and right fender bracket
Left and right fog lamp bracket
Left and right upper fender spacer
Larger hood bumpers

Just a few notes... the older style hood hinges will work but must be bolted slightly higher than before. That will all be obvious during alignment. the hood struts, hook, and latch will all transfer over without issue. The headlights, the older wireing will work but instead of the sealed square lamps you will just replace them with the bulbs I listed above. No wiering needs changeing. Turn signal bulds and housing will transfer right over no prob. The fog lamps are at your discresion - you want the 98+ projectors then go for it. But I just wired up some custom lamps in the grill opening in the 93-97 location. Saved me from having to track down the fog lamp brakets. And lastly, if you want to move over to the 98+ lid type intake then you will need as follows..

intake lid
98+ radiator shroud (98+ SS radiator shroud if SS hood is being used to make functional)
intake bellows (qty 2)

The MAF will just have to be repositioned between the 2 bellows. This would make the conversion more complete and will work with an LT1 intake maifold however - it's not necissary. The LT-1s intake setup will work perfectly fine. It's all on how you feel about it.

Of course a lot of this is all on preferance, grill insert doesn't have to be there, stock or custom fog lamps, cowl or SS hood could be done, halo headlights, etc. So it's all on how you want to do it but I listed the items to do a complete stock conversion. The brackets will be the hardest to track down. Good luck and I hope this helped.
