Just got a 93 z28 6spd, but think something is wrong with tranny.....
When you first start it up and only when you first start it, car starts up fine, but when you try to go anywhere in 1st or 2nd, it will either die, or you have to really rev up to get it going, then after about 5min, you couldn't ask for a better shifting, running car. Any ideas and and advise is greatly appreciated. I had a 95 model z28 with an automatic back in 97, just found this 93 and i always wanted a black 93 6spd, so i'm thrilled to have the car and can't wait to enjoy this forum!

Motor idles perfect sounds good has good oil press.
I should have gave more detail. First start up car. throw the ***** in reverse and it does like it should. perfectly. go into first the damn things acts like i don't know how to drive a manual tranny, but after first 5min. car is fine and does good rest of the day unless it sits for about 2 hours then you have the problem again, car jumps and has no power. it acts to me like an auto tranny low on fluid slipping in and out of gear. any help and time is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks !!!

u might have something
because when i test drove it we had to jump the battery, and the prev. owner bypassed the passkey system by jumping some wires or some **** so he could use a 1.00 key instead of the right key. maybe that might have something to do with it, security light is on the whole time i am driving. ????? Thanks again! Look fwd. to the replies.

Based on the fact that it sounds like the biggest factor is time- I would say its more of a motor/computer issue. I doubt its the key, if that was screwed up it would act the same way all the time. Do a search and jump the wires and see what the code is. That might be your problem right there.
