Hood Liner/ Heat Protector?

my dad says he wants me to get a new one and he wont let me take it off because he says the engine heat will destroy the paint on the hood when I said it wouldnt, its his word against mine, so Im looking for one, I guess I will have to go through a dealership to get one.

no, its just that it was his before mine and he always tells me, hey you should replace that heat shield...Im like ok what ever...He just want me to take care of my car properly and all that jazz...

Tell him it won't ruin your paint and then show him all your friends w/ Camaros not running the liner and their paint is fine. It is a noise dampener and fire suppressant. Has nothing to do w/ the paint
