Hard start when cranking the engine

Been this way since I got the car a month ago.

Prety much it takes a good 4 to 5 seconds of turning over the engine for it to start. My thought is that the fuel lines are draining back into the tank when the car sits for extended periods of time. The car starts right up if I turn it on after driving it a few minutes before.

When driving it seems fine, no hesitation, ect.. So i've ruled out bad fuel pump, spark plugs are pretty new, wires look good. (Daaamn, those plugs look hard to get too. ugh).

Is this a known thing on V6 Camaro's? Or just the way it is?

Hmm not really to sure what it could be. But no its not common mine doesnt do it at all. But from what your saying it only does it when its cold? Mine has done it once since I have had it but never since. Arch will see this and im sure he will know probably someone else but im not a huge tech dood here im still learning.

a bad fuel pump (or going bad) a bad injector, or a leak in the system.Try turning your key on and waiting a few seconds, turn the key off and back on (primes the system) it should start easy.Do a pressure test to see if the pump is dying

Thanks, I hope its not the pump.. I think this is the year when they installed the pump inside the fuel tank? I'm heading home now, i'll go try the priming test.

Tried priming, didn't see any noticable difference.. I checked with the chevy dealership and they want 80 bucks to diagnose it.. Blah. I live in a dorm room so dont really have a garage to work on this thing. Next week i'm going to head to a friends house and check the fuel filter ect..

Now I noticed when I had the windows down that I got a good whiff of gasoline when the car was cranking for 3 to 4s. Though I haven't seen any leaks or puddles under the car.

injector stuck open will do just that, also the cold start may be adding too much fuel

60k miles on the car. Funny thing is, there is a reciept in there from the previous owner that showed the dealership had serviced the injectors a few months before she sold it.

I'm wondering if they messed something up. Now if the injectors are stuck open, would that mean they are constantly spraying?

That just seems odd. I'd expect realllly crappy gas milage then, but i've gotten excellent gas milage on the highway. (around 30mpg +-/2) and about 19 to 23 city.

Also if its constantly spraying, there would be a build up i'm assuming and can lead to detonation? However, the car is running great as far as I can tell. I'm getting a OBD2 scanner to plug into my laptop soon, hopefully then I can read sensors and maybe see something.

Thanks for all the reply's btw, great to have a forum with knowledgable people helping newbies like me out.

my bravada when teh injector went (since it's the vortech it only has one) my milage wasn't effected, and it ran decent except when starting. it could be just dripping a little and letting the lines drain.

That makes sense. I'll see about running some injector cleaner through.
