fuel economy

well my long tib thread i mentioned my ****** MPG and torque dog mentioned i must have something wrong besides a heavy foot. PCV valve, etc.

well here is what i can observe. the breather tube on the passenger valve cover has oil in it. when i pulled the TB the inside walls of the intake have an oil coating on them. that indicates somethings wrong...

ive got a k&n intake with new filter and ive done the fuel filter. i was thinking a FI service and some kinda slick 50 deal. plugs are original.

plugs will help, slick 50 is snake oil; does no good at all. oil in the tb isn't that where the pcv valve hooks up? that would account for that, fi service never hurts

well the breather from the passenger cover goes in the side of the TB behind the butterflies. that has oil in it. the PCV valve is on the drivers side of the intake and routes to the front of the intake. its got weird internal passageways that route it directly to each intake port.

so the breather filter is bad, and the pcv valve makes the system pressurize sending oil the wrong places

Thats weird, this just happend to my sisters like 91 sunfire. My dad was driving it, and he siad it ****** up... took off the intake and there was oil inside of it, inside the tb, ect.. I was really wondering what would cause that, so if you figure it out, let me know.

my 3.1 was pretty quick (I used to race mustangs frequently and win) at least for a v-6

Change the PCV valve for sure. That oil build-up inside the throttle body condition is the result of a PCV in need of replacement.

You should have seen how much better my car ran after I did a PCV service on it.

nope i checked my PCV valve. its working great.

a friend of mine were discussing it and beginning to think my rings are going bad, hence excessive blowby, hence all these oil leaks ive had lately.

shouldnt i do a compression test since blowby occurs during the compression stroke...or is it the power stroke...hmm...i guess both tests would show the same problem if one existed.

ive also really considered my CPS. sometimes coming to a stop i press the clutch in and it stumbles as if the clutch is still slightly engauged yet its all the way down. so im thinking its having a hard time finding idle due to the CPS being faulty...but i dont have a code...hmm...

time for a tib!
