if you want a shop to do it its going to cost around 1-2 grand. my headgasket blew a year or two ago and thats about what it cost. if you did it yourself it would be much cheaper. all you'd need is new gaskets and such. i'd say around 200 to do it yourself. oh and the time of course.

Is it just the gasket that was hurt? Cuase back when i had my 88' i blew it and it roasted 3 of the 6 cylinders along with it. Had to rebuild the entire engine after that.

I had that problem before, took me a 1.5 day's of working pretty much straight to finish the job. Paid less than $400 for parts too If you don't do all your own work pay someone to do it because it's a HUGE job. It would be easier to do an engine swap.

For the job your doing... your not gona just need head gaskets.. your gona need a whole upper head gasket set.... And 1-2 grand thats crazy , here i had my old motor took out and put in... and all kinds of new parts put on my new motor... and he did all the work (by the way its not some cheap guy that dont know what he is talking about, he is a jasper dealer with one of the badest drag cars around here.) and he did it all for 725.00 and he told me he would do a full head swap for about 700.00 he said its just as hard as changing the motor.. so price would be about the same...

Also 93meanz and me have pulled his heads of and were about to put it backj together.. i will keep you informed on how things go...

you dont know the whole job. it started with an overheating problem. so that 2 grand included a new radiator, heater hoses, water pump, head gaskets, and all the other goodies, plus labor and a 12 month warranty.

All im going to say is read what you said... you specifcally said it would cost around 200 dollars.. but a water pump and hoses will only run him around 160-175 that dont even make it up to 1,000 yet...

ryan changed them on the T/A before...took most of the latter half of the day... worst part for him was figuring out what gaskets to get because of the non-stock engine.
