A lot of people/companies will put stuff on a car and do a crazy tune on it just to get really good numbers to sell their items. There are also different techniques to dynotune a car- a dyno is only a test/tune device, as far as I know there is no standard for setting a dyno.

keep in mind 10 years ago when I started building my last drag car there were only a handful of places(it's only been teh last few years the things were cheap enough for a regular shop to buy)I looked at what it would cost for a cheap one and it was over $100,000 and that had no electronics for actually running the thing
