Any Suggestions?
Greetings and Salutations.
I just recently aquired a 1997 30th Aniversery RS. It's a sweet little pony, Emerald green with T-tops, ground effects, premium wheels and sound. What I really like is the 3.8 V-6 and the 5 speed manual.
I havn't seen any other Cameros like mine. I'm wondering If it's fatory, or perhaps moded by a dealer or Preveious owner.
I have a couple questions about this car I hope to get advice on.
1, Is ram air and a hood really worth it? whats a good way to get a few extra horses for cheep.
2, What should I know about T-tops and how to care for them?
Any information you can share with me about this model care will be much apriciated.

It sounds like you have a RS package V6 camaro. Get us a pic to make sure. As for ram air I belive nc_camaro_ryder has it so he can answear your question. Your best bet is to start out with the common mods such as Exhaust, Intake, Headers and just go from there. I dont have T-Tops so all I can tell you is not have them off in the rain Oh and have them closed tight when going at high speeds or you will be cleaning up the street. Anywho welcome to the site get some pics of your ride.

make sure you always latch your t-top down securely before you drive anywhere. have you done the wash test yet to see if it leaks? some of them have a tendacy to leak. but other than that treat it like a regular glass and store it in the t-top holders correctly. of course if you want some serious power and want to spend some money then get a sc or turbo.

I second what everyone else has said. The ground effects on a V6 is from the factory as the RS package entails. The premium wheels... well if they're factory you would probally be able to tell. Sounds like you have a nice car man. But Ram Air hood and intake is not a cheep way to gain horses. Hood alone would run you a good $700 then paint and then the intake - youre looking at close to a grand or more fr not much gain. Besides, a cold air intake will do you just as good if not better than all that anyway for somewhere around $200 at most. Check Ebay. I'd invest in the hood ONLY if your'e going for looks. Cheep HP adders - exaust, hi-flow cat, headers, CAI, etc. Those would get the job done.
All i can tell you about the t-tops... dont armorall the weatherstripping. It'll destroy it in the long run. Then you can talk about leaks!

cold air works better than ram air imo, and as for more power, i'm with the rest of the guys and their bolt on suggestions but i would also look into some gears, you'll notice them the most

welcome, and your car looks nice. Pretty much what everyone says basically covers it. But ram-air doesn't have to cost a huge amount if your good enough to make it yourself after you get a hood.
