94 Z28 has been sitting since 94
94 Z28 ,6 speed it has 3400 miles on it and has sat for 12 years. I am going to attempt to get it going to sell. I tried to siphon the gas out , but can not get a tube very far in the tank, I think bafflling is in the way. The gas is bad and stinks up every thing with in 100 feet of it. I took the fuel filter off and turned the key on , the pump will not come on. The gas gage is stuck way past full, like it is hanging up on the black face plate the gages sit in. I know I need to get the gas out of the system before I do any thing else. The check engine soon lght is on the dash, I have not checked for spark yet. I dread pulling stink tank out , but that seems to be the first step. Any advice on getting a car that has sat going again.
My son has advised me that the car has lost its workie we should push it way out back were we wont smell it. I am starting to agree.

Well first off, a 94 is not a 3rd gen... so this will have to be moved. Secondly, i'm not sure what to tell you. Has the car sat with ALL it's fuilds since 94? If so you may have more probs than just bad gas. Gaskets may be bad, seals, hoses, etc. May actually cost yah way more to get it working than you'll be able to sell it for.

That just describes the body styles.
67-69 - 1st generation
70-81 - 2nd generation
82-92 - 3rd generation
93-02 - 4th generation
08-? - 5th generation
If the fuilds havent been drained first then seriously check the rest of the car too. My first car (1988 RS) was stored for 6 years before i bought it and the person i bough from never drained anything. I can't tell you all the problems i had with that thing.

figure a car sitting that long will need the engine, trans and rearend gone through (meaning complete teardown)sometimes people get lucky, but not real often (you get condensation in the cylinders from sitting causeing the rings to seize to the cylinder walls) you need to pull the tank since the pump is probably garbage, and it's the easiest way to clean the garbage out (buy the kit from eastwood) check the whole thing over real well for rust (anywhere there's a covering check it) I have worked on a few cars that were abused like that (you may as well send them to the crusher if you let them just sit and rot like that) the last one was a '71 cutlass that cost about 30k to get in good running order (it sat for 10 years in a pole barn the engine was scrap as the cylinders had rusted enough to be out of boring help)
