Question 3.8 engine dipstick

Does anyone have problems getting a reading off of their engine dipstick because mine gives me different readings almost every time, right in a row?

are you wiping the dipstick off and putting it completely back in? sounds like a dumb question, but just eliminating the simple things.

Shaped crazy? It should be a stright line, well, sprial at the end. You might not be reading it fast enough or somthing, if you left oil drip down when you pull it out, it could give you a different reading. Make sure you pull it out, and hold it horizontal to prevent it from dripping up or down.

Im not calling you an idiot, Im just trying to help. Youd be suprised on what some people do. Look up "removing the berger panel' at LS1tech sometime.

The bend in the tube sometimes wipes off or smears the oil. I have to take a reading like 4 or 5 times before I can figure out where it is. I've found turning the dipstick around and re inserting it helps.
