FS: 1991 GTi with Corrado VR6 swap - Alpine White - many upgrades
Please read entire ad carefully before asking questions...
Car:
1991 Volkswagen GTI (originally an 8V)
Engine:
2.8l VR6 from a 1993-94 Corrado (BA code ECU)
Transmission
5spd. from 1993-94 Corrado (CDM code 3.647 final drive)
Body and Interior:
Original L90E Alpine White paint. Interior is factory velour two-tone grey with red-stripes 8V. Car has a factory crank back sunroof. Car was not equipped with AC and has no other options.
Body and Interior Condition:
The car is in fantastic shape cosmetically - the only rust being a small amount under the windshield (the car was originally from Alberta) and a couple small spots on the driver's side. Floors are mint. The exterior is stock apart from a single round conversion and smoked bumper lights. Seats are factory fresh but the headliner sags. Gauges have been updated with a later red needle Corrado cluster and late Corrado gauges nicely tucked into the centre console. Has a Corrado shift **** and boot as well as GTX leather wrapped steering wheel.
Engine & Transmission Condition:
Engine is still fresh - there's only 10,000kms since the rebuild on the bottom end, and timing chains/guides. Cylinder head has around 90,000kms on it from new. Runs incredibly strong - cylinders still have cross-hatching from machine shop - no pitting on the head or piston tops. I installed a brand new gasket set when I reassembled everything and torqued everything to spec according to the Bentley. Many new sensors as well including: MAF, CTS, TPS, ISV, etc... The wiring harness is getting old and I found a lot of broken wires which have been fixed. I'm including a spare OBD1 harness as well if the new owner wants to replace it. Needs front and rear motor mounts replaced (included). Currently engine is running Castrol Syntec.
Transmission is in mint condition with Redline synthetic. No grinds - all syncros are in good shape.
Engine & Transmission Mods:
- 268 Cat Cams
- P&P head (now off the car but included)
- P&P and gutted intake manifold (2.9L clone)
- P&P exhaust manifold and downpipe
Engine has also been treated to a GIAC chip, a cheesy intake, and a 2.5" exhaust with a stock Mk3 VR6 Leistritz muffler. Tranny has been treated to an Exedy stage 2 clutch and a Fidanza 8lb. flywheel.
Brakes and Suspension:
Car still has stock rear drums. Front brakes have been upgraded to 10.1" from a Mk3. Calipers are freshly rebuily. Pads are Pagid and rotors are Brembos. Stainless steel braided brake lines. Suspension is an H&R Race Cup Kit designed for a Mk3 VR6 and dropped the car around 60/40.
Wheels and Tires:
Car is currently sitting on Mk3 Imola 14" wheels with good tires (80%+ tread).
Optional Extras:
12.5" Momo Monte Carlo wheel/hub
M3 Style Euro tails with bulb holders
The Bad:
The horn needs to be fixed and a new windshield needs to be installed. Also needs driver's side front control arm bushings for safety. Rad has a small leak and O2 sensor needs to be installed (included). Car currently isn't plated.
Asking $4000 FIRM (ie. no offers) car is located in Barrie, ON.

Reason for selling: Going to be eventually buying a new daily driver and don't need a second car. In no hurry to sell though.
PICS:
Video of idle and some light revving (car was fully warmed up ahead of time).
Sorry about the crappy audio quality - recorded from my cell phone.
