1991 Plymouth Acclaim
2.4L - 4Cyl
Auto
155,000 km
Underbody is Superb
Interior is Very Good
500 - 650 klm per tank of gas depending on type of driving you do
I bought this car about a year ago to drive through last winter and then my 240 project ended up getting all screwed up so I drove this car until a month ago or so when I decided I couldn't last another season driving an automatic and bought a new car.
This car has never given me any mechanical problems. I bought it with approx 140,000 klm and have put about 15,000 km on it since then.
Things to note if you are considering coming to look at the car (good and bad):
- The car is no longer insured so test drives need to be for serious buyers only and need to be limited
- This is an absolutely awesome winter car / daily driver - it has lots of meat on the all seasons and this is the second Acclaim that I've owned - I bought this one after I wrote off my first one because I loved the first one so much for dairly driving. It's very comfortable and drives smooth. Grips great in the snow too.
- Extremely minor damage (I half-assed fixed it last year when I got it so its hardly noticeable) - just some dents on rear fender (pictured)
- various paint chips around the car and minor clear coat scratches, nothing abnormal for a 15+ year old car
- Haven't checked brakes (or just about anything else) since I got the car but they seem fine and were fine when I got it. Like I said above, I will safety the car once someone commits to purchase it.
- Car has a very slow power steering leak - I keep a water bottle in the glove compartment with PS fluid in it. Every couple of months it starts to whine a little bit when I first start the car so I just top it up and it goes away.
- Should probably be noted that the car USED to leak oil when I got it and I had it fixed at a local shop. It was still leaking slowly after that but has since stopped for some reason.
- The gas pedal seems to be doing something odd. It's been like that since I bought the car and it's never bothered me but it doesn't move very far. It never poses a problem. It definitely stops you driving driving the car hard because it rarely down shifts because you can't quite floor it.
- it looks like in some spots the clear cloat is starting to fall off - its barely noticeable other than on the top of the rear bumper. I took pics of it all so just scroll down to see
- there is currently no stereo head unit installed in the car, I was going to replace it but then never did. I have the original head unit that the last owner gave me, I assume it works but have never tried it.
- Some surface rust on bottom of drivers side door that I painted over. (forgot to take a pic of this, but its not bad at all)
- missing one hub cap
Here are pics - I just finished hosing it down so you'll need to ignore the funny discolorations - the flash really shows the wet vs. dry I guess
The next few pictures show the clear coat falling off in a couple of spots (you can see the worst of it on the top of the rear bumper and some on the front bumper as well. One of the pictures also shows the fender damage which I painted over a year ago or so.
