License Plate Covers - Effective?
Hey Guys
I've been hearing alot about these license plate covers that block the plate when being viewed at elevated angles, kind of like how the 407 cameras pull your license plate :P
What Im curious about is, do these covers even work? And two, are they legal? If illegal, what sort of fines could one receive?
Thanks.!

From what I know;
1. Heard the 407 cameras have been upgraded to take better pictures and most likely this cover will not work (camera's using sharper angles).
2. These covers are illegal and you will get in big trouble if/when the police stop you for them. Anything that obscures / deforms the view of the license plate is illegal.
3. If stopped you will most likely receive a ticket for improper plate cover / or obstructive plate. Worse case you may get your plates pulled and have to tow your car away. Also I've heard that if 407 catches you they will send you a bill for every single time they have a picture of a vehicle similar in description as yours in which they could not read the plate (don't know if this is true or not).
Don't waste your time. I use to have an electronic stealth plate and realized it was too risky to use and didn't even hooking it up.

they arent illegal, i got pulled over in my camaro i had blue ones on from canadian tire, the cop gave me $110 fine so i was pissed... i went to the justice of peace and he laughed, he told me its not a law and that cops only do it to try to prevent people from putting htem on because it is tougher to see sticker dates.

they are illegal becasue your trying to scam the government. its typically not worth the hassles, becasue when your not driving on the 407, it has a chance to be easily seen by cops. not worth the time and money imo

If you want to get away with free 407 rides, go buy a Nissan Pathfinder, mid 90's. They have the plate mounted in the rear bumper, UNDER the spare tire. Not visible by the cameras, and the cops can't do , because it's factory.

I seen a spray not long ago that u spray over ur plate and it is water proof n , ur plate is totally visible to the naked eye , but redlight and 407 cameras cant see it. Also a friend told me that hairspray works just as good, i havent tried it.
