i had the same problem befor and it was because one of my sub's was shorting out , in other words it was blown but not 100% so at low volum it played but at a higher volum it would cut out

The usual Causes for an Amplifier to be cutting out, and going into protect mode, weather it is a Car amp or home Amp are:
1.) Short Circuit/Crossed Wires
- If Any wires are touching together they can short the Amp and cause it to go into Protect. Check and Double Check all Wires to ensure that no wires are touching (Even 1 Strand can cause Intermittent problems)
2.) Blown Speaker
- If the Speaker is gone and is not out putting the sound correctly, the Amp can build up a lot of heat and cut out
3.) Wire Gauge too small
- If you are using a Wire that is too small for the Application then the Amp has to work harder to work properly, and this can cause overheating/ cutting out. (Think of it like a garden hose VS. A Firemans Hose, If you are trying to push the same amount of water through the hose, which would be easier to do it with (the larger).
- I usually recommend a minimum of 4 Gauge wire for any subwoofer application where a large subwoofer/amp are used.
4.) Internal Short in the Amp
- If something inside the Amp fried, then you are SOL.
