Two 500 watt amps or one 1000 watt amp?
I was thinking about some thing. Say if you are powering two subs and you need 1000 watts. You can either go with a 1000 watt mono block or two 500 watt mono blocks. Now in theory both setups should perform exactly the same, however I was wondering is this true in the real world? Would the system with two 500 watt amps perform better than the single mono block?
Thanks

that might actually work better. with one amp and two subs you'd be running it at probably a 2 or 4 ohm load. with one amp per sub you could probably easily run it at a stable 1 ohm load. i'm not 100% sure if this is accurate though, i'd talk to either stephen or jake.

2 amps will give you a little less power in the real world with 2 subs since each sub would be 4 ohms (2 at best with dual voice coils) a larger one (which tend to be underrated) would be run at 2 ohms or 1 ohm if dual
