Subwoofer Suggestion?

Subwoofer Suggestion?
im making an SQ setup in my EK hatch and i was wondering which sub i should use? i want to use one sub and i can power it with anywhere from 500 watts RMS to 1000 watts RMS. i was thinking either:
JL 13" W6V2 or JL 10" W7
now my question is which one should i purchase? the price is almost the same but th W6 is about 30 bucks cheaper in the end. I want pure SQ but i still want it to get loud. is the W7 far superior to the W6? im also open to other subwoofer suggestions... my main thing is to get it done right.
i was also thinking of a 10 or 12" alpine type x... i could get this a lot cheaper also... any good?

if you have a hatch go with the 10 but if you have a trunk/coupe go with the 13/12 because of the bass distribution you wouldnt hear them as well with a coupe. i personally like the alpine but i havent heard anything wrong about the jls
dynatmat or w.e u use would also be recomended so it can flush out external noises AND absorb most of the bass so there isnt a reflection so to speak of the bass (meaning there isnt an eco effect and its all hard hitting precise bass)

w.e you go with dynamat is strongly recomended it will get ride of that nasty rattling. JL's are good my buddy had them in an altima but like ribeiro953 said in a sedan or coupe u can use the bigger sub. if your interested i got Kicker solo-baric l7's 4 sale. check audio postings.

nah i had 2 L5's... they hit ridiculously hard but they dont sound too good for my taste... good for rap but not very versatile for other kinds of music. thanks tho and thanks for the help guys.

i've used just about everysub out there, still keep some on my shelf for keepsakes.
Here's my Top 5 favourite SQL driver:
JL 13W7
Image Dynamics ID MAX
Crystal Mobilesound CMPx2
Resonant Engineering XXX
Adire Audio Brahma
JL Audio 13W6v.2
I've personally used all of these drivers. I will forever be in love with the Crystal woofer, due to its rareity and not too many ppl know of the brand. It hits and responds just as well if not better than the 13W7 output wise too. Loudest of the Bunch would be the RE XXX, it stays clean however.
Depends on howmuch volume you want to take up in your hatch. XXX requires alot of room. I'd assume you want to stay sealed enclosure? If so 12 ID MAX may suit you well, works in as little as a 1.25 cubic foot sealed enclosure. 1000 watts RMS, response on them is amazing.
PM me if you'd like any more info on the other drivers.

xplode agree..
Kaption also agree..
and me, 10W7 all the way. miss mine and wish i never got rid of it. that sucker made my trunk vibrate over an inch of flex on my trunk lid with my gain just over half, my loud off, my sub level at +3 and my bass at -6..
if you turned mine on and it stayed on a low note.. you could see inside my trunk while the trunk was closed shut.
My buddies 12W7 actually made his rear bumper fall off his newer accord.

ID MAX is the only driver i consider real sq purpose sub hits low 10hz cleanly even in seal boxes doesnt need bassboost in the lower but not as loud as w7 dd re etc. because they are sql and sacrifice a bit of quality for that extra boom. u can tell with anything other than playing heavy bass rap. downside is getting it to canada and its on backorder.

consider your budget as well, if i had a boat load of money to spend i would go for jl audio probably the best brand out there, alpine subs are iffy they are not bad subs by any means, but there are alot better subs out there for that kind of money. orion has good sq a couple of ppl i know have them they are very nice subs as well.
