spilled pop on stock deck....
well, went to mcdonalds lastnite and my dumbass friend decides its a GREAT idea to put a supersized coke on the dashboard instead of the cupholder
needless to say, the second he took his hand off the cup fell over and all over my center console/dash/deck
managed to clean it up pretty good, but some pop leaked in through the casette slot on the stock '99 vw golf deck.... and eventually ceeped into the LCD screen so that the numbers are barely readable
question i have is, if this has happened to anyone before.... is there anyway to fix this or should i kiss it goodbye and get a new deck

Chance's are the internal parts are wet or damaged. You got a few choice's, try to get it repaired (chance's are you will probably be better off getting a replacement deck), or buy a used or new deck.If you want a used deck just check the audio classified's. That's just my two cents.

^^^ pop doesn't just dry up... it'll stay there forever... especially with the heat a head unit generates... good luck..
Also, it's a stock deck... if u check our FS sections, i'm sure u'll find something for a decent price.

well, deck is fine when the cars been sitting in the cold for a while (assuming the pop freezes) then when the headunit lights up for a while it goes shitty again (again assuming pop melts back to liquid form)
theres gotta be a way to dry it out, but ya id go ahead adnd get a new aftermarket deck but the car is my sisters, i just happened to take hers out of lazyness instead of mine and this is what i get....

There isn't really an economical way of fixing it. Go out and get yourself an aftermarket HU at Futureshop or something... OR find a stock deck to replace it with. (you can find them all over ebay)
