replacing head unit, and speaker ????
I'm replacing my factory radio with a JVC KD-S12 head unit. My Camaro is a 94 3.4L The system is a Bose 3 speaker, yes a 3 speaker OEM, blew my mind as well when I removed my rear seat speaker covers and found no speakers.
I want to put some speakers in there and I understand that they are 6.34" If I do this will I have to remove all my other Bose speakers.
And wiring the new head unit up, will this be easy? I have an after market wiring harnes form Scosche.
Been looking for pics of installs on new head units but found none. Thanks for the help.

you'll need to run wires for them to the radio more than likely (that's easier than trying to find the speaker wires anyway) so you can keep the audiovox (that's who makes the bose car audio junk) speakers and amp, and have less performance than in the rear. some systems work with the bose some don't you may need an adapter, or just replace the speakers and wiring(pretty easy to do)

I would just start everything from scratch. Luckily the head unit costs more than speakers. So replacing your speakers is reletivly easy. I went with the Sony Explodes on a pioner head unit. The head unit was $550, the speakers never came close . But the whole package sounds SWeeett!

depends, a real bose system does, not sure on the 3 channel one. I'm not sure where it is located in the fbody, I know on my gp it's behind the glove box (all gp's have an amp from what I understand)

On a fbody it's right above to the spare tire next to the antenna in the trunk. Attached to a little plastic bracket. That is only if you have the Monsoon Sound package.
I attached my Sirius Sat. on the other side of my amp BTW . Hopefully that shouldn't cause any problems, lol.

RE:
Well the install went very well. No problems and took about an hour. The wiring harnes was easy to hook up and install. Sounds a little louder that the factory. I'll have more questions later......
