one 12 inch sub suggestion! HELP

hey guys. im looking to buy one 10 inch or 12 inch woofer that is rated from 500-600 watts RMS. im more concerned about SQ then i am about SPL but i want a mix of both. maybe
70% SQ 30% SPL if that makes sense. i was thinking of getting one type-r 12" but im not entirely sold on the idea yet. let me know wat u guys suggest. thanks!

Depends on the budget, I have 1 JL 12w7 and it hits hard but seems to get clearer the louder you go. Problem it takes up a lot of space plus the wieght.
Just my thoughts

ya the W7 is out of my budget tho thats my problem... JL makes some great stuff but its sorely overpriced. im looking to spend about 250 at most for the 1 sub.

I know I'll probably get flamed for recommending the 12" Type R, but its a pretty reliable sub with some cool engineered features, and usually you can find them around 200 and up plus tax....

The type R is definately a good start in your search for a sub, just make sure you consider the amp your going to use and the wiring options available to you, and make sure you have a good box (spec'd to ur sub not just shiny+cool) fit into your budget....

Try your best to go out and listen to whats available and don't rush into anything lol..good luck bro

haha ya i know what you mean... i've had a few subs so far but im craving some serious SQ... i've dropped out of the "hear me from 5 blocks away" SPL scene lol.

im going to do a sealed enclosure for watever i buy and its going to be run at 2 ohms (550 watts RMS)

thanks for the advice dude.

Any of the choices that have been mentioned are a good start ... even the Type-R (even though I personally don't like that sub)

Stop by to see Davis at Selective Sound to see what he has in stock. I'm sure he'll get you set up with something good.

Make SURE you get a proper box for it though. Even the worlds best sub will sound like garbage if it's not in a proper enclosure.

I would highly suggest you get either
1. a 12 inch kicker l7 which is 750rms at dual 4 ohms or
2. a 10 inch fosgate t2, 800rms.
these subs are very powerful as well as provide excellent quality. i had a kicker l7 i got great feedback, and for the t2 i know for a fact its really good. thats y i'm gonna get one soon after selling these 2 12" audiobahn aw1206t
