The new Mill for the BadAssGN
Here is some parts and engine I am working on, been one busy spring but I got time this week to work on it.
Still need to build the oil pump, install the cam and front cover, both heads are on now, and I'll install the intake before it goes in the car.,
I'll post a Vid of the first start up, prolly next weekend, who knows.
Here goes. it you don't like buicks these pics are not for you...
if you are interested, there are some pretty significant modifications here.
Forged pistons, Arp main Studs and billett steel main caps, arp rod bolts, rods have been polished and shot peened, so has the Crank, I'm using a special hardened rod bearing and 3/4 groove main bearings, there is also modifications to the oil system, the heads are Raace ported and have the largest valves you can fit in stock casted heads., I run a cam suited to street use but proven well into the 10s. this engine will run clean and fast all original emission equipment will be in place.

Some use a high volume kit, I don't like those because they put added stress on the Cam gear that drives the pump and I've seen failures.
I also modified the front cover to promote better flow, as well as a booster plate a R&D team came up with in the 90s.
I also Drilled out the oil passages for the two centre mains, these mains feed two rods each so i focused the oil on them.
one other trick is to Drill smaller holes in the cam bearings to reduce the volume of oil the cam gets and make the mains Priority.

Well... stock sump holds 6 litres. and the oil pressure is a problem with these engines. I've seen many with 10 psi @ hot idle, and a max of 50 psi
My engines see 20 - 25 psi hot idle and 60-80 at 5500-6000
the extra flow to the centre mains is critical to longevity at high HP (500 - 750 hp)
Mine should see 550 or so to the wheels...
