Nascar Explained

Pretty much.. thats why nascar and cascar drivers do not have many brain cells as all they do is turn side .... turn side... turn side.. go straight.. turn side.. turn .. straight..
Half of the drivers if they went to touring car or speed touring car gt.. they would crash the first corner..

Last time I checked, NASCAR runs on 4 road coarse tracks every year.
Ask Montoya, Villeneuve, Carpentier, Boris Said, Paul Tracy, Scott Speed (just to name a few) how easy it is to turn left.
For a bunch of people with not many brain cells, they sure know where the money is.
How much money did you make racing last year msequence?

Watching a Nascar road course is like watching bumper cars.
Montoya, Villeneuve, Scott Speed - all failed out of F1
Carpentier and Tracy - flamed out of indy or cart or whatever it's called now
I PERSONALLY can't stand nascar...but I hear lots of people like it...

put any of those drivers into a wrc car and watch them eat the first tree that comes along. guys who drop down from f1 to nascar usually have a hard time because those stock cars weigh a ton and have dick all for downforce compared to f1 cars. nascar is not only boring but its also quite gay. 4 road courses, whopty do, thats the only time it gets exciting. the rest of te time theyre driving in a circle. im not sure where the excitment is in that. you want to watch real talent and real racing. wrc. the best drivers in the world upgrade to that. you show me any of these nascar wheenies in a wrc car, on ice, navigating turns and avoiding rocks and cliffs at 140 mph.

Take any of those WRC drivers and put them in a nascar race and you will see most them fail pretty fast too..
People seem to think the nascar requires no talent.
You said it yourself, heavy cars with no down force takes a lot more to drive.
Many nascar drivers have raced in other series and have done well.
Robby Gordon races in the baja and dakar races every year and does well. Several drivers have raced in the 24 hour Daytona and other lemans races.
A few have even doubled up and races in the indy 500 and coke 600 both in the same day.
I like all forms of racing but most of them I find a little boring. What makes nascar exciting is the passing. Races like F1 and rally etc, its really just a big follow the leader game.
Last weeks nascar race at Talladega had over 50 lead changes between 20+ drivers and that all happens with the speed not dropping below 195 mph.

so a bunch of cars. all going within 5 mph of eachother, turning left over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and withthe ocasional pass is exciting? i dont see the enjoyment in that. lemans cars are exciting to watch. f1 is ok, not a fan but its more mor exciting than nascar. 200+ mph in open wheel cars where if you touch your air born. thats fun. the only time nascar gets good is when they crash. ive tried watching it and its like watching grass grow. rally is a timed event, thats its only downside but even watching one car at a time tear up a back road is much more exciting than watching 20 cars play follow the leader. you wanna see excitement in rally racing, watch the pikes peak hill climbs. 140 mph through corners without guard rails on dirt with a cliff on the other side. very exciting

If you don't like nascar, I really don't care.
I've watched the pikes peak races, F1, rally ect.
Yes it takes a lot of talent to drive that and I,m not disputing that. Just watching one car against the clock it boring.
Watching F1 play follow the leader in cars that could drive them self is also boring.
Watching 43 cars on an oval with in inches of each other at 200 mph is a little more interesting imo.
My point for posting in this thread was to say that it takes just as much talent to drive on an oval track as needed for other racing disciplines.
Most people that hate nascar really only make fun of it because it gets more attention than other racing disciplines that they are fans of anyway.

i believe nascar gets more attention than anything else because most of the u.s is over run by rednecks who have never seen anything more interesting. running inches apart is cool and all but in reality all the cars are traveling the same speed. so whats the difference if theyre going 50 or 200 mph. theyre all at the same speed. im not trying to argue with you, i just do not find the fascination in nascar. ive tried to watch it, ive tried to enjoy it, but it makes my eyes feel very heavy. maybe if they added some machine guns or something it would spice things up

I like vintage sports car classes , like Austin Mini coopers going 140 mph . And those classes with vintage cars where they all give each other extra room on corners . And vintage trans am series cars are cool too . Like the ones from back in 60, s 70,s ..77.

yup i forgot about those. you dont see them much on tv same with wrc btu when its on its great to watch. nothing like watching factory built race cars that are 40 years old doing what they were meant to do
