civic
yeah, i saw that civic article as well. I think it was a 2.0 liter Methanol Class, and the civic went 184 I think.
According to Super Street Magazine December 2004 , page 124, there was a saturn ion that broke that civic's record with a 212mph (official time). There was also a chev cobalt that later ran a 243 mph in that class as well but it was an unofficial time.
Not sure what the other class records are tho.

That's no near land record. Maclaren F1 and Bugatti Veron are at 240 mph at PRODUCTION STAGE. I do not know the record, but I bet it would be around 500-600 km/h max for internal combustion engine. After that jet engine must be mounted.

Those cars are very fast but they would be in a different class for obvious reasons . Different classed have different requirments. You cant compare a 2 liter cobalt or civic to a Maclaren F1. You are probably right tho , the land speed record for ANY piston driven car would probably be in the 500-600 range. I was giving the record for the 2.0 liter methanol class. Thats why I said I was not sure about the other classes because I didn't have any info on them.

BrianB yeah I'm a NASCAR fan, so is my wife. I would have loved to go to Michigan. It would have been a hell of alot better than that bullshit F1 race. But Junior still only finished 18th. He's not gonna make the cut this year, unless he gets his together soon.

Yeah , we have gone every year for the last 3 years. My cuz always gets the same 3 tickets. He wants me to tag along to taledega later this year but i don't i will be going. The funny thing about this year we were having a hard time finding a third person that wanted to go . We lucked out that the guy we went with last year got the time off work and was good to go.
You and my cousin would get along great he loves Jr. We rolled into the race with big *** "8" flag through his sunroof of his car with a US flag on one side and a Canadian flag on the other side. It was kinda cool cuz everyone was giving him props for it. This year was alot better than last year too because last year it ended under a caution.
